This Greenland paddle is hand-carved out of yellow cedar, after rough shaping it on a band saw.
 
The Greenland paddle holds significant cultural value as it has been used by Inuit paddlers for centuries in hunting expeditions, enabling stealthy approaches to prey and providing precise control in challenging Arctic conditions. Its design reflects a deep understanding of the sea and a harmonious relationship with nature.
 
I chose yellow cedar for its durability, flexibility and natural buoyancy, along with it’s connection to the Pacific Northwest.
