I painted this from a photo I took of a powerful storm near my family's farm in Lublin, Wisconsin. The farmhouse had a weather alarm/radio that would blare loudly whenever there was a tornado warning so I went outside to assess the situation.
The clouds gathered and swirled, but never formed a funnel. But the storm created sheets of rain off in the distance, beyond the fields and trees. The air was electric and the energy of the storm was incredibly moving. I'm glad I captured the moment on film so I could relive it and paint it years later.
